Laura facing new challenges as her silver mine becomes worthless, and she is faced with twins whose different personalities cause concern of an unusual nature.
Laura's sons, Cal and Al, are sent east to school. Cal is sent home in disgrace for supposedly getting a local girl pregnant. His furious father, Caleb, insists he work as a ranch hand. One evening in a bar Cal is offered a job by Laura's rejected suitor, Ransom Ravannel. They become friends until Ravannel makes a startling statement to Cal. When Cal asks his mother is what Ravannel says is true they do not know Caleb is listening. Tragedy follows. Laura becomes a teacher and is active in the suffragist movement. She introduces her sons to a lovely young suffragist and both boys fall in love with her. How Laura meets these challenges makes a fascinating story.
Golden Love is the the first of a three part family saga that evolved from a memoir of my ancestor whose pioneer family was among the first to settle in Telluride, Colorado.
Doubt is the next in the series. The story continues with My Love Will Always Haunt You carrying forward Laura's personal battle for women's suffrage and her sons' conflict over the love of the same woman.
